Theatre
The department offers a Bachelor of
Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting/Directing
or Technical /Design, as well as a BFA in Theatre Education
Studies. All of the theatre degrees require a broad general
education in theatre and the opportunity to specialize in
particular aspects of performance, educational theatre or
technical theatre/design. This is combined with core curriculum
course work which helps emerging artists to become educated
as well as artistic. Our students' educational experience
includes plentiful performance and design opportunities. We
help students respond to our ever changing 21st century by
helping them develop skills which encourage thinking "outside
the box."
Dance
The department offers the BFA in Dance
with an exciting variety of coursework. These include advanced
levels of technique in ballet, modern, jazz and tap as well
as movement studies including Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff
Fundamentals, Anatomy, Kinesiology, Treatment of Injuries
and Pilates. Choreography studies include Improvisation, Composition
I, Composition II and Choreographic Collaborations for Dancers
and Musicians. Teaching methodology coursework offered includes
Creative Dance for Children, Teaching Methods, and Teaching
Practicum.
