UCO's Kaleidoscope Dancers Share the Stage with Six Area High Schools for Fall Concert
Sept 26, 2008
The University of Central Oklahoma Kaleidoscope Dance will share the stage with dancers from six area high schools for their fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11 at the Nancy O'Brian Performing Arts Center in Norman.
The concert was moved to Norman this year due to construction at UCO's Mitchell Hall Theater.
The concert is a celebration of UCO's new Bachelor of Arts in Dance Education degree and will include an eclectic mix of jazz, tap, ballet and contemporary dance works.
Participating schools include Classen School of Advanced Studies, Harding Fine Arts Academy, Bishop McGuiness Catholic High School, Norman High, Norman North and Roosevelt Middle School.
The Kaleidoscope Dancers will present premieres from four different guest artists including Los Angeles jazz artist Adam Parson and Australian tapper, Glyn Gray.
In addition, UCO dance faculty members will present four premieres: Jill Priest's "Threshold," an exploration of the unknown boundary between the earthly and the real; Emily South's exuberant contemporary work; Tina Kambour's playful Beatles suite; and Hui Cha Poos' choreography inspired by the hit TV show, "Project Runway."
Also, audiences will be treated to an encore performance of Robyn Pasternack's contemporary ballet, "Veil."
Ticket prices for the concert are $14 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $5 for high school and non-UCO college students, and $4 for UCO students. Tickets are available by calling the box office at (405) 974-3375 or at the door the night of the concert.
