UCO Symphony Orchestra Concert to Feature a Salute to Oklahoma's Centennial
November 27, 2007
The University of Central Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra will feature a salute to Oklahoma’s Centennial at its fall concert at 7: 30 p.m., Dec. 4 at UCO’s Mitchell Hall Theater.
Among the works to be performed is Virgil Thomson’s “The Plow that Broke the Plains,” the score to the popular documentary film that centers on the Dust Bowl.
“Thomson’s score draws on his own grass roots and the Baptist hymnal,” said Lori Wooden, Chamber Orchestra associate conductor. “A short descriptive poem introduces each movement of the symphonic suite.”
The orchestra will also perform Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man.”
Tickets to the concert are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $4 for UCO students.
