UCO Grad Cast In Starring Role On NBC Drama "Law & Order"

July 13 , 2006

A University of Central Oklahoma graduate has been cast in a leading role in NBC’s Emmy Award-winning drama “Law & Order.”  Milena Govich, who completed a double major in performance and pre-med at UCO in 1999, is the first female to play a police detective on the show. She replaces Actor Dennis Farina who left the show after two seasons.

Govich guest-starred on the Law & Order episode “Flaw” in 2005, joining a list of Law & Order cast regulars who did the same before having a starring role in the series.
Filmed entirely on location in New York, “Law & Order” is the longest- running crime series in the history of television. For the upcoming fall season, the drama moves to Friday nights at 9 p.m. in the Central time zone.

Milena’s mother, UCO Professor Marilyn Govich, says her daughter is busy preparing for the physically demanding role. “She’s taking Tai Chi and going to the firing range,” said Dr. Govich.

Milena was a standout student during her time at UCO, acting and singing in musicals and opera, as well as playing violin in the orchestra and string quartet.
After graduation she moved to New York and almost immediately began working professionally, landing film, television and Broadway roles.

Govich recently starred on the now-cancelled NBC legal Drama “Conviction.” In January, she had a guest star role on the pilot of “Love Monkey” with Tom Cavanaugh and she had a recurring role in last season’s “Rescue Me.”  She will next appear in the 2007 feature film “You Kill Me,” starring Sir Ben Kingsley and Bill Pullman.
