"Pianos and Petit Fours" Event Set to Benefit the Steinway Piano Project at the University of Central Oklahoma
April 7, 2008
University of Central Oklahoma Artist-in-Residence Valery Kuleshov, along with School of Music faculty member David Forbat and Moscow Conservatory graduate Tatiana Kuleshova, will entertain guests at "Pianos and Petit Fours," a progressive tea to benefit the Steinway Piano Project at UCO April 20 in the 6200 block of Claridge Court in Nichols Hills.
The event, sponsored by Connie Fuller, Donna Miller and the West Family Foundation will take place from 3-5 p.m. in the homes of the supporters on the designated block, and feature hors d'oeuvres, petit fours and beverages.
Funds from the event will go towards the purchase of Steinway pianos for the UCO School of Music, assisting in efforts to become an All-Steinway School.
In organizing the event Fuller and Miller said one of their goals was to expose guests to the qualities of a Steinway, considered by many to be the standard in pianos for sound, touch, beauty and investment value.
"Both Donna and I own Steinways and we know the importance of a good piano to students," said Fuller. "We hope our efforts will result in a number of generous persons stepping forward to buy a piano for UCO."
UCO College of Arts, Media & Design Development Director Lori Alspaugh said the progressive tea is an inventive way to have fun and support the college.
"We hope the tea will introduce a new audience to the talented pianists we have at UCO and inspire guests to follow in Connie and Donna's footsteps by contributing towards our efforts to become an All-Steinway School.
Tickets to the tea are $50 in advance and $75 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Alspaugh at 974-3778.
