UCO Holds 2007 ‘Young Talent in Oklahoma’ Exhibition
April 12, 2007
The University of Central Oklahoma is currently hosting the 47th annual "Young Talent in Oklahoma" exhibit being shown from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through March on the second floor of the Chambers Library on the UCO campus.
Sponsored, in part, by the UCO College of Arts, Media & Design (CAMD) and the Oklahoma Center for Arts Education (OCAE), Young Talent in Oklahoma features a juried exhibit showcasing visual artwork created by high school students in the state.
This official Youth Arts Month event was established by the Oklahoma Art Education Association and is judged by university faculty members, professional artists and association members. Each year, thousands of dollars in scholarships, tuition waivers and cash are awarded.
"It is a real honor to have such a beneficial exhibit held here at UCO,” said John Clinton, CAMD dean and Executive Director of OCAE.
"We want to take advantage of every opportunity to support the arts in Oklahoma, along with being a strong advocate for arts education for all students."
The exhibit will conclude on March 31 with a teachers luncheon at 11 a.m., student reception at 1 p.m. and an awards ceremony at 2 p.m.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
