UCO Presents Its Spring Musical, ‘STATE FAIR’
February 21, 2007
The University of Central Oklahoma`s School of Music presents its spring musical theatre production of Rodgers and Hammerstein`s STATE FAIR at 7:30 p.m. March 1 through 3, and 2 p.m. March 4 in the UCO Mitchell Hall Theater.
Set against the colorful backdrop of an American heartland tradition, the musical centers on the Frake family as they leave the farm for three days of adventure at the 1946 Iowa State Fair.
STATE FAIR is Rodgers and Hammerstein’s only musical written directly for the big screen and features an Academy Award-winning score that includes "It`s a Grand Night for Singing," "That`s For Me,`` and the Oscar-winning song, "It Might As Well Be Spring."
Greg White, UCO’s director of musical theatre, directs the production. He appeared as Harry in the Broadway National Tour of STATE FAIR with John Davidson.
"I felt STATE FAIR was the perfect choice for UCO`s Oklahoma Centennial offering," said White.
"This musical is all about family and life. Win, place, or show, we`re all in this together."
STATE FAIR is rated G for all audiences.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $7 for students.
