Tango Dance Classes to be Offered at UCO Jazz Lab
December 12, 2006
The University of Central Oklahoma`s College of Arts, Media & Design will present "Tango Tuesdays" dance classes at the UCO Jazz Lab at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30.
The classes will be taught by Professional Ballroom Dancers David Hyer and Shelby Rothell.
Hyer and Rothell own and operate Competitive Edge Dance in Oklahoma City and were semi-finalists for the World Championships for American Smooth Ballroom.
Hyer says the tango is a fun dance to teach.
“The tango tells the story of the male, female relationship. It’s passionate, turbulent and full of drama,” said Hyer.
Enrollment for the dance classes are $100 per person, or $25 per lesson, with a portion of the proceeds going to the UCO Dance and Jazz programs.
Last year`s dance event, "Salsa Tuesdays," was filled, so early reservations are strongly recommended.
All ages and all abilities are welcome.
For more information, or to make reservations for the dance classes, contact College of Arts, Media & Design Development Director Lori Alspaugh at (405) 974-3770, or online at lalspaugh@ucok.edu
