UCO Presents Student Jazz Ensemble at the Jazz Lab
September 26, 2006

The University of Central Oklahoma's School of Music presents the first concert of the season for the UCO Student Jazz Ensembles at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the UCO Jazz Lab.
The award-winning Ensembles will perform a variety of big band jazz music from the libraries of Count Basie, Buddy Rich and Maynard Ferguson.
“This concert will not only provide top-quality entertainment for our audience, but will also show our depth of talent and continuing commitment to jazz studies here at UCO,” said Jazz Ensemble director Lee Rucker.
Each ensemble is comprised of 20 UCO students, by audition, and is directed by UCO professors Jeff Kidwell, Brian Gorrell and Rucker.
Last April, the Jazz Ensemble I took top honors at the North Texas Jazz Festival in Addison, Texas, one of the premier jazz competitions in the country.
Tickets to the performance are $7 and may be purchased at the Jazz Lab box office or by calling (405) 359-7989. Shows sell out quickly, so reservations should be made early.
Future UCO Student Jazz Ensemble concerts will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6, Dec. 4, Feb. 5, March 5 and April 16 in the UCO Jazz Lab.
For more information, contact Lee Rucker at (405) 359-7989 ext. 273. For a complete schedule of CAMD performances, visit www.camd.ucok.edu.
