Head of UCO's Department of Design to Present Exhibit
October 18 , 2007

Larry Hefner, a professor and chair of the University of Central Oklahoma Department of Design, will open a solo exhibition of photography from 4- 6 p.m., Oct. 25, in the Donna Nigh Gallery Exhibit Hall on the third floor of the Nigh University Center.
Hefner’s exhibit, "Fiori Industriali," features photographs of flowers juxtaposed on unusually rustic and weathered industrial backgrounds.
“This drastic contrast in color and texture creates an interesting visual contradiction,” said Hefner.
“The shift from soft organic forms to hard, rigid inorganic backgrounds adds to the unique visual experience.”
Hefner says color and color theory, particularly the properties of certain colors to appear as if they were advancing or receding in space, have special interest for him. His exhibit seeks to combine this phenomenon with real and implied texture.
The exhibition runs through Dec. 2.
