A University of Central Oklahoma sophomore was crowned Miss Oklahoma Saturday, June 10, at the Maybee Center in Tulsa.
Lauren Nelson, a UCO music theater major, competed amongst 43 other contestants for the title and the opportunity to represent Oklahoma in the upcoming Miss America Pageant.
Nelson entered this year’s pageant as Miss Oklahoma State Fair and was the youngest contestant ever to win Miss Oklahoma at just 19-years-old.
During the competition, Nelson sang “What Kind of Fool Am I” for her talent portion and her platform is focusing on furthering Internet education to better protect children going online.
While at UCO, Nelson has been active in performances such as “Pajama Game,” in which she performed as a member of the ensemble, and Hot n’ Cole, a Cole Porter Music Revue, in which she was featured as a principal singer and dancer.
