UCO Faculty String Quintet Invited to Play in Thailand

The University of Central Oklahoma Faculty String & Piano Quintet has been invited to play with the Thai National Symphony in Bangkok, Thailand on May 11.

The quintet will play “Summer” from The Four Seasons and Concerto in g-minor for two celli, RV531, both by Vivaldi, and Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola by Mozart.

“This trip will not only allow us to play with the Symphony but will also allow us to recruit string and piano students to further their studies at the UCO School of Music,” said Chindaret Charoenwongse, a member of the quintet and a native of Thailand.

The group will present master classes and Charoenwongse will present a piano workshop to Thai students and teachers from various universities.

Last year, three members of the quintet played for the King of Thailand during a party to celebrate the 60th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

The recent trip is being conducted in cooperation with the Chintakam Music Institute in Thailand.
