UCO Summer Band sign up and rehearsals to begin

The University Of Central Oklahoma School of Music is currently signing up musicians to participate in its 56th annual UCO Summer Band.

The Band performs at the popular UCO Summer Band Watermelon and Ice Cream Concert, a part of Edmond’s LibertyFest activities. This year’s concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. June 29 in Mitchell Hall Theater.

Community members, college musicians and high school band members are encouraged to join the band. Auditions are not required. Musicians should be prepared to play at the first rehearsal.
Dr. Ron Howell, professor of music at UCO, directs the band. The group will perform a variety of music including marches, patriotic selections, light classics and popular music.

Rehearsals begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 5 in the university’s Music Building band room and will continue each week on Monday evenings until the concert on June 29.
