Modern Recording Technology Workshop

to be held at UCO Jazz Lab

June 14, 2007

The University of Central Oklahoma's School of Music will hold its sixth annual “Modern Recording Technology Workshop” with Brian Gorrell from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 9 through July 11 at the UCO Jazz Lab.

The workshop will give people of all ages the opportunity to not only learn the basic concepts involved in audio recording, but also to participate in the recording process as an engineer, producer and musician.

Participants will work with standard analog mixers as well as modern digital performer software.

"This workshop will give participants a unique hands-on experience working with modern recording equipment that will lead up to the creation of a full-blown multi-track recording of a popular local act," said Gorrell.

Gorrell serves as head of the jazz studies division for the UCO School of Music and manages the operation of the Jazz Lab recording studios. He has more than sixteen years of experience performing professionally in various locations throughout the mid-west and abroad.

Tuition for the workshop is $225 per person. Those registered before July 1 will receive a $25 discount.  Enrollment is limited.

For more information or to register, contact Gorrell at (405) 359-7989 ext. 3 or online at briangorrell@ucojazzlab.com.
