High Tea Scheduled at UCO’s Melton Gallery

Care for a spot of tea? The University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Arts, Media & Design presents, "High Tea at the Melton Gallery," at 3 p.m. Feb. 9 in the Melton Legacy Gallery.
The Gallery is located in the Art and Design Building on the UCO campus.
Guests will be able to view more than 500 years of European and American art while enjoying flowering teas, finger sandwiches, scones, and bittersweet chocolate truffles catered by the Oklahoma City Art Museum Café.
The fundraising event also will feature
Gladys Lewis, UCO English professor and
author of "Loaves and Hyacinths: Tea Thomas Moran’s “Venice At Sunset”
Rooms in London and East Anglia." Lewis
will speak about the traditions of teatime.
In addition, guests will enjoy chamber music provided by students and faculty from the UCO School of Music.
"We hope this event will surpass everyone`s expectations," College of Arts, Media & Design Development Director Lori Alspaugh said.
"It is our hope that we can bring the grandeur of this English tradition to Edmond while giving the public a chance to learn about the world class art collection we have at UCO."
The collection contains more than 60 paintings and drawings, spanning more than 500 years of art history. Howard and Merle Melton collected these works of art throughout their lifetime. Upon their deaths, they were donated to UCO.
Admission to the Tea is $40 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Galleries and Collections at UCO. Reservations are required.
