UCO Presents Performance by Distinguished Vocal Artist

The University of Central Oklahoma’s School of Music presents a performance by visiting artist and distinguished baritone, Ian Geller, at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11, in Room 135 of the Music Building on the UCO campus.

Dr. Geller will perform a special program of songs and arias accompanied by composer-in-residence, Professor and Assistant Director of the UCO School of Music, Sam Magrill.

The program features four songs to the texts of Walt Whitman by Magrill, four songs by Geller, along with popular works including G. F. Händel’s "Italian Cantata" and Verdi’s "La Forza del Destino."

Geller also will lead a master class at 2 p.m. Jan. 12, for UCO students.

"Ian is highly professional and brings great musical insight into everything he sings," said Magrill.

"His vast experience and sense of humor will be an inspiration to our students."
Geller is presently the choir director at Delaware State University in Dover and has appeared as a soloist in operas, recitals, and on radio and television in New York, Chicago, London, Berlin, Vienna and many other cities in North America and Europe.

His degrees include a doctorate in voice from the University of Southern California, a bachelor`s and master`s degree in voice from the Juilliard School of Music and a degree in composition from the American Conservatory.

This performance is free and open to the public.
