UCO Graduate Selected For Dance Ensemble

Jessica Reimer, a recent graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma Department of Theatre, Dance & Media Arts, was recently selected to join the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble in Detroit, Michigan.
Jessica Reimer, a dance major, auditioned with other dancers in Detroit May 21 and New York City June 4 and was selected as one of 3 finalists before being chosen.
Artistic Director Laurie Eisenhower founded Eisenhower Dance Ensemble in 1991 and it is considered Michigan's premier contemporary dance company. The company tours nationally and internationally with 6-8 dancers for 40-44 weeks each year.
Assistant Professor and Director of Dance at UCO Jamie Jacobson wasn’t surprised by Reimer’s recent accomplishments. “After teaching almost 20 years at our university where many students have gone on to perform professionally and/or teach around the country, Jessica is by far our top student and performer.”
While attending UCO, Reimer was a student Rehearsal Director for 2 years, receive praise for her performance and choreography skills and was the recipient of UCO’s prestigious “Hauptman Award”, given to the top student at UCO whom excels in research and academic performance.
Reimer was hired this year to teach part-time as an adjunct faculty at UCO and taught this past year at the performing arts high school in Oklahoma City and the Academy of Dance Arts in Yukon.
