Area High School Students Invited to ‘Day of Dance’ at UCO
September 20, 2006

The University of Central Oklahoma’s Department of Theatre, Dance & Media Arts will offer a UCO High School Day of Dance, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 7 at the UCO Health and Physical Education building.
Open to youth ages 12 and up, as well as high school juniors and seniors, the event will allow prospective students an opportunity to learn more about the UCO Dance Program, dance auditions and scholarships.
In addition, participants will be able to take classes in ballet, modern, jazz and repertory from the UCO dance faculty.
UCO Director of Dance, Jamie Jacobson, said high school students who are thinking about pursuing dance at the college level would find the day’s activities worthwhile.
“The classes are designed so that ages 12 and up are challenged, learn new information and enjoy the variety of styles that will be presented,” said Jacobson.
“If students are interested in majoring in dance, the UCO High School Day of Dance will answer a lot of questions regarding the upcoming March 17 auditions, UCO dance scholarships and how to apply, and the Bachelor’s in Fine Arts offered in dance,” added Jacobson.
The cost is $45 per person and includes four dance classes, lunch, a ticket to the UCO Choreography Concert that evening and an optional campus tour.
For more information or to register, contact Jacobson at (405) 974-5231 or by email at jjacobson@ucok.edu.
