UCO Professor Presents Mixed Media Exhibit
August 30, 2006

University of Central Oklahoma art professor Barbara Broadwell will open a solo exhibition of drawings with a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1.
The reception will be held at the JRB Art at the Elms Gallery in the Paseo Art District, located at 2810 North Walker in Oklahoma City.
Broadwell`s exhibit titled "Winged Spirit," features mixed media including charcoal, ink, ink wash, crayon, oil pastels, acrylic paint, watercolor, graphite, collage and the ancient technique of encaustic.
Broadwell said her various works investigate the nature and history of angels throughout the societies and cultures of time.
"This exhibit is a spiritual search using various layers of visual context. The longer the viewer examines a piece, the more information is given,” Broadwell said.
Broadwell`s work in sculpture and drawing has been exhibited and collected on local, national and international levels. She has also been the recipient of numerous awards in her field.
The exhibit runs through October 1.
