UCO Students Featured in Gallery Show
October 23, 2006

The works of two students from the University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Arts, Media & Design are featured in a current exhibit at the Art House Salon and Gallery at 8014 N. Western, Suite D, in Oklahoma City.
Naomi Sumi, a graphic design student who specializes in serigraphy, a form of printmaking, is presenting 10 works for the exhibit. Also known as silkscreen printing, her works are based on both hand drawings and computer graphics. A native of Otaru, Japan, Sumi’s work often features hidden faces, shapes and letters.
“My theme has always been ‘expressing Japan’. I like to get inspiration from Japanese traditional patterns,” said Sumi.
By using cultural themes for her exhibits, Sumi said that she hopes to share her background with the audience and help them to learn more about Japanese culture.
