UCO Wind Symphony, just back from Carnegie Hall, scheduled to perform at OKC church
April 6, 2006
The University of Central Oklahoma Wind Symphony will present its final spring stand-alone concert, “Bach & Fourth” at 7:30 p.m. April 20 at the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.
“Bach & Fourth” features Donald Grantham’s “J.S. Dances,” a Percy Grainger setting of the Bach chorale “O Mensch Bewein’ Dein’Sunde Gross” and David Maslanka’s “Symphony Number 4” for wind symphony, organ, piano and harp.
This is the first concert since the group returned from its March Carnegie Hall performance, which attracted an audience of more than 2,000.
“I guarantee that this program will be one of the most passionately moving and emotional performances ever staged by the UCO Wind Symphony,” said Brian Lamb, conductor.
“They have formed a real soulful connection with the music of Grantham and Maslanka and you can hear that level of personal relationship and connection in their performance,” he added.
