UCO to host ‘Speaking in tongues’
March 30, 2006
The University of Central Oklahoma will host the annual international poetry reading “Speaking in Tongues” from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 3.
Poetry from more than a dozen different languages will be presented by students and faculty in the UCO Jazz Lab, located at 100 E. 5th Street in Edmond.
“This event gives students, faculty and the public an opportunity to experience languages from countries that they might not have ever been exposed to,” said Amy Prichard, of UCO’s department of Modern Languages, Literature and Culture.
Presenters will be reading poetry in languages from Japan, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, China, Spain and other nations.
Students taking language courses and others who are interested in foreign cultures are encouraged to attend.
The public is invited and admission is free, however donations will be taken at the door.
Proceeds from donations will go to support the Jazz Lab.
