UCO to honor music professor with vocal scholarship
March 31, 2006
The University of Central Oklahoma will establish a vocal scholarship in honor of UCO Professor Emeritus Jesse Webster, who taught for 40 years at the university’s School of Music.
Friends and former students are invited to a reception honoring Webster at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 15 in UCO’s Evans Hall.
The reception will precede a 7:30 p.m. performance of the opera Susannah, which will be dedicated to Webster.
Webster started the Musical Production class at UCO so that students could participate in and produce operas and musical theatre shows.
In addition to teaching, Webster also has performed with the Oklahoma City Symphony, the Tulsa Symphony, Tulsa Opera, Kansas City Opera, Cimmaron Circuit Opera Company and the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.
Contributions to the vocal scholarship fund may be made to the UCO Foundation by calling (405) 974-3783
