UCO symphonic band to present works by Oklahoma composers

The University of Central Oklahoma College of Arts, Media and Design’s School of Music will present the UCO Symphonic Band concert, “Celebrating New Music of Oklahoma Composers,” at 7:30 p.m. April 18 in UCO’s Mitchell Hall Theater.
Under the direction of conductor David Hanan, the Symphonic Band will perform works by Oklahoma composers David Gorham, Dr. Jerry Neil Smith, Pete Havely, Robert Dean and Richard G. Smith.
Among the new works is “Fanfare for Excellence” by Smith, a piece specifically written for Oklahoma’s All Star Centennial Band, created by the Oklahoma Centennial Commission.
The Symphonic Band consists of UCO students, as well as community members.
