UCO College of Arts, Media & Design names Dr. John Clinton as new interim dean

2006

Dr. William Radke, provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Central Oklahoma, has announced that the university's Dr. John Clinton will serve as interim dean of the UCO College of Arts, Media & Design.

Clinton takes over for Dr. Chris Markwood, who is leaving UCO to become the Provost and Vice Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

"I am pleased and honored to be named interim dean. Dr. Markwood, the students, faculty and staff of the College of Arts, Media, & Design have set high academic and artistic standards," Clinton said. "I look forward to working closely with each of them promoting the ideals and mission of our university and college."

Clinton earned a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of North Texas in 1991. He has broad experience in both secondary and higher education, including service as the Director of Fine Arts for Norman Public Schools. Currently, he is the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Center for Arts Education at UCO.
