UCO to Host American Indian Learners Conference
March 6, 2007
The University of Central Oklahoma`s Oklahoma Center for Arts Education presents the third annual "Connecting to American Indian Learners Conference," from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 10 on the third floor of the Nigh University Center on the UCO campus.
The event focuses on arts and language integration for K-12 education. Conference organizers say the purpose is to highlight the American Indian heritage and teach different ways to integrate the history of American Indian art and language into a school`s core curriculum.
"Every moment I am involved in arts education, I realize the importance of the many wonderful cultures that exist in Oklahoma," said John Clinton, Dean of the UCO College of Arts, Media & Design and Executive Director of the Oklahoma Center for Arts Education.
"This conference makes available to all those involved in educating our youth hands on experiences and vital information about connecting with the American Indian learner and their culture."
A certificate of completion will be given at the end of the conference to each participant and one hour of university credit is available, where applicable.
Registration cost is $75 per person, which includes all meals.
Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
