Peggy Spence

Peggy Spence is the head of the Central Community Music School (CCMS) and former head of the School of Music’s piano division, and was a faculty member at the University of Central Oklahoma from 1972-2005. A native of Oklahoma, she holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Oklahoma. During her tenure at the University of Oklahoma, she was awarded a Graduate Assistantship in piano and also served as the Staff Accompanist.

Mrs. Spence maintains a private studio of students K-12 who consistently win competitions throughout the state. She has served as a choreographer pianist for Lyric Theater, performed with Oklahoma Music Theatre, Jewel Box Theater, and the University of Central Oklahoma Productions. She accompanies for a variety of events, including faculty recitals, student recitals, and fund raising programs. She has served as an adjudicator for numerous competitions throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas. In the summer of 2000, she served on the jury for the Ibla International Music Festival held in Regusa/Ibla, Sicily. In the spring of 2001, she traveled with the UCO University Choir on a performing tour of Ireland and England.

She is an active member of Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association, American Guild of Piano Teachers, Oklahoma City Pianist’s Club, and is a board member of the Chopin Society of Mid-America.
