Dr. Lon Dehnert Dr. Dehnert, a native of Lander, WY, came to UCO in 1987. As Director of Choral Studies, his duties included conducting the University Singers and Chamber Singers as well as teaching Secondary Vocal Methods, Choral Conducting, Choral Arranging and supervision of student teachers. In 1988 Dr. Dehnert created the Edmond Community Chorale and in 1990 he restructured the choral area by developing a four tiered choral division with Chamber Singers, Concert Chorale, a second large mixed choir (Concert Choir) and the Edmond Community Chorale. In 1995 he added a women's ensemble (Cantilena) and a men's ensemble (Cantare). From 1990 until 1999 he offered a summer workshop for talented high school singers (the SCI) and from 1994 through 1998 the Choral Directors Institute for area choral musicians (CDI). He served as the Assistant Dean for the college from August 2003 until December 2006. His responsibilities included oversight of the college strategic planning, assessment, curriculum, technology, committees and taskforces, as well as the facilitation of the Leadership Team and the Technology Taskforce. In January 2007 Dr. Dehnert accepted a position with the new Center for Executive Education and Distance Services (CEEDS) as the facilitator for Strategic Planning and Assessment. In addition he conducts the Edmond Community Chorale and teaches Choral Conducting and Principles of Conducting.
