each year which are open to all students and members of the
community to enjoy.
Each year, our School of Music and Department of Theatre,
Dance and Media Arts showcases their award-winning talents in a packed performing arts season. The UCO Jazz Lab, our live music club, showcases the regions
top jazz and blues performers every Thursday, Friday and Saturday
nights. Our Department of Art and Department of Design fill our galleries
and museums with exhibits that inspire and challenge imaginations.
Tickets are affordable, and some events are even free. So,

The Arcadia Piano Trio Concert

Doubt

Chosen as the best play of the year by over 10 newspapers and magazines, Doubt is set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, where a strong-minded Catholic school principal wrestles with conscience and uncertainty as she is faced with the possible misconduct of her resident priest. Written by John Patrick Shanley, the Academy Award-winning author of Moonstruck, this play dramatizes issues straight from today’s headlines.

Wind Symphony Concert +

This concert will feature classic chamber works for winds such as “Quattro Fiori d’Frescobaldi,” “Liturgical Symphony” and “Miniature Overture” along with an exciting tribute to James Brown by New York trendsetting composer Scott Johnson.
UCO Marching Band Festival
10 am-10:30 pm, Oct. 4, Wantland Stadium
For fans of half-time marching band, enjoy a whole day of music and movement presented by some of the most outstanding high schools in Oklahoma.
UCO Student Jazz Ensemble Concert
7 pm, Oct. 6, UCO Jazz Lab
This concert will feature both traditional and contemporary jazz performed by UCO's award-winning student ensembles.
UCO Dance Choreography Concert
7:30 pm, Oct. 10 & 11, Nancy O’Brian Performing Arts Center (John Clinton Theatre in Norman)
This combined concert will showcase Oklahoma City and Norman High Schools along with the UCO dance department performing new works by guest artists and UCO faculty.
Chamber Swingers in Concert

Carousel ++

Presented in conjunction with Broadway Tonight, this concert performance of the musical stars Shirley Jones, Patrick Cassidy and Miss America 2007 and returning UCO student Lauren Nelson performing such musical hits as, “If I Loved You,” “June Is Busting Out All Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Toast to the Maestro

Enjoy an intimate evening with our Artist-in-Residence, Valery Kuleshov. This program includes a solo performance from the artist along with desserts and drinks. Proceeds benefit UCO School of Music Scholarships. For ticket information, call 974-3700.

Twelfth Night
By Shakespeare

Thought by many to be Shakespeare’s wildest, funniest and purest romantic comedy, this play features mistaken identity, separated twins and gender-crossing disguise in a romp intent on demonstrating that almost any obstacle to “true” love can be overcome.

The Crucible

Set against the backdrop of the Salem witch trials in the late 17th century, this drama exposes the suspicions and paranoia in small-town America after the trust and innocence of three young girls is sacrificed to hysteria. A repressive era of American history brought vividly to life by America’s most celebrated dramatist.

If you’ve seen FUBAR in the past, you haven't seen anything yet. FUBAR: The Musical art 4 is a whole new script with new music. Even though the theme of this student-written rock musical is crisis, FUBAR will make you laugh until you cry. Live musicians accompany the performers in this celebration of life. Free snacks

The Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad
Based on the novel by Kenneth Grahame

This delightful children’s story, based on the popular novel “The Wind in the Willows,” focuses on the adventurous Mr. Toad who gets himself into mischief and mayhem while his friends Rat and Mole attempt to get him out of trouble. This story delights children of all ages with fun, uplifting songs and the central theme of friendship.

Così Fan Tutte

This delightful comedy is considered to be one of Mozart’s greatest operas. It is a story of an old bachelor, Don Alfonso, who challenges the concept of women being faithful. He bets two young men that their fiancés will not be faithful for even a day. The gentlemen accept the bet, disguise themselves and try to court the others bride-to-be. With a little help from Despina, the servant of the two young ladies, we get a delightful series of events sure to be enjoyed by all.
UCO Symphony Orchestra Concert

This concert will showcase the student winners of the Concerto Competition in performance with the orchestra.
UCO Wind Symphony & Symphonic Band Concert +
7:30 pm, April 30, Mitch Park Amphitheater or Oak Tree Country Club
This salute to Ernest S. Williams will feature his monumental “Symphony in C Minor” for band, along with several of his most popular marches including “The Noble Commander March,” “The Captivator March,” “The Bedford March” and the tone poem on “America.”
Valery Kuleshov in Concert ++
Spring 2009, (Location TBA)
Dr. Valery Kuleshov, a pianist, serves as an Artist-in-Residence for the College of Arts, Media & Design in the School of Music. His awards include a Gold Medal at the Busoni International Piano Competition, a Silver Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and first prize at the Pro Piano Competition.
