I am an artist who likes to draw and paint with a variety of materials as well as incorporate three dimensional items into my work. I received my BFA from Texas Tech in 1996 where I focused on painting. I came to Oklahoma to attend the University of Oklahoma. I received my MFA in Studio Art in 2000. I am currently teaching Drawing at the University of Central Oklahoma. I have always wanted to be an artist and I am a descendant of a family of teachers. I feel that teaching inspires my art as much as my knowledge drives my teaching.

I am from Lubblck, Texas and see myself as a flatlander. I am also an amateur ornithologist. My work often begins with an interest in a particular bird and incorporates my daily and poetic self. My work often includes written text and many layers of mark making.

I am currently working on a series of maxed media drawings on wood panels. The work centers around birds of prey and domesticity. I recently flew to Houston to observe water birds, which I know very little about being from the llano estacado. I have also been going birding in the evenings and mornings to watch the various large birds and their activity. This observation and citizen science fuels my work and changes the way I see the world and my environment.
