Lauren Nelson, School of Music

In January 2007, Lauren Nelson's voice carried her from Oklahoma's stage to winning the Miss America 2007 title!
"Nelson is a very focused, energetic and incredibly talented girl. UCO recruits 10 people every fall for the Music Theater program, five girls and five boys and she was one of them," Greg White, director of Music Theater Department said. Nelson says she would like to one day perform on Broadway. Nelson has said publicly that she plans to return to UCO to continue to education. She will be the featured guest at the 2007 UCO Homecoming parade.

Vicki VanStavern, Department of Design
Vicki VanStavern, Oklahoma City interior designer, graduated from UCO in 1983 with a degree in Interior Design. She earned her master’s degree from UCO a year later.

In 1984 she started her own design firm, VanStavern Design Group, Inc., which continues to thrive. Her firm’s work can be seen in several places locally including the Oklahoma City Art Museum and the OKC Zoo’s restaurant "The Canopy." VanStavern’s firm also designs broadcast facilities for television stations across the nation. She is also the President-elect of the International Interior Design Association.

Milena Govich, School of Music
Milena Govich is fast becoming one of the most sought after young actresses in Hollywood. After graduating frm UCO with degrees in Vocal Performance and Pre-Medicine, Govich headed to New York City in 2000 with only her suitcase and a lot of hope. She soon got a job in Europe performing with the tour of "The Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber." That summer, she joined the national tour or "Cabaret" playing a Kit Kat Girl. She made the jump to television soon after in the NBC Drama "Conviction."  Now, Govich can be found playing a detective on the long running hit NBC drama "Law & Order." The shows airs a 9/8 central on NBC.
